Nandi, carved and painted sculpture

Nandi

2025 · Carved wood with copper overlays and oil · approx. 5 ft · Sold

Created with Anahatha

Nandi, the bull who carries Shiva, sits at the threshold of every Shiva temple, eyes fixed on the sanctum — the devoted witness. In this piece his body becomes the place he guards. Carved in wood, sheathed in hand-worked copper and painted in oil, he carries the world Shiva and Parvati share: Shiva on one flank, Parvati on the other, with peacocks and flowers moving between them — the same figures that drift through Tides of Transformation.
